If you could imagine for one moment a mushroom-less world, you’d probably agree that this fantasy land would certainly not resemble the one we inhabit today.
In almost every ecosystem, fungi thrive and engage in countless roles indispensable to the health of every resident organism.
Perplexingly, many fungi also have the ability to shift roles in an ecosystem and instead undermine the health of resident organisms, ultimately contributing to their demise.
One model group of fungi with the ability to perform multiple (and seemingly contradictory) roles in forests is the Armillaria genus of fungi.
Armillaria fungi produce honey mushrooms, and while mycophagists celebrate the appearance of these early autumn treasures, honey mushrooms spell trouble for many foresters and homeowners.
As it turns out, mycelia of honey mushrooms can infect living trees and eventually destroy their roots and lower trunks. This disease is known as “Armillaria root rot” and it occurs throughout the temperate and tropical regions of the world.
I recently received a great question from an arborist who was interested in combatting Armillaria infection particularly by using other fungi as a means of control.
Interestingly, there are numerous studies on the ability of mushrooms to treat and prevent Armillaria infection, and this fascinating topic is one that I explore thoroughly in the following video.
If you are interested in learning how tree-eating mushrooms can paradoxically save trees infected with fungi, check out the brand new video!
Thanks for reading and watching… and as always, thank you for your support!

Tiger Eye: Healing Our Relationship to Wealth
“Wealth is many things. We give it a numerical value, but that’s just a number, not a feeling.
What is wealth?
Safety, love, health, friendships, joy… the list goes on!
How did we warp wealth?
By losing touch with its true meaning, its true joy.
Take a moment to connect with me, and as you do my energy can ignite your solar plexus [chakra].
Joy, nourishment, feeling the cool solid structure of a tabletop – all of these things are wealth.
This week, celebrate your wealth in small, simple ways.
Reclaim for yourself the love, light, and beauty of this frequency.
Feel it replenish your soul.”
Tiger eye is a stone of prosperity, grounding, balance, and protection. Its frequency is that of joy. It says: “Connect with joy, and the rest is easy.” Let this be your mantra this week.
Crystal Healing For Overwhelm
I’m kind’a over feeling overwhelmed!
I tend to take on too much, which is something I’m still working on in my own personal healing process.
Sometimes it’s what my guidance calls “Go time”, where there’s a lot upgrading, downloading, and shifting simultaneously, and it’s a matter of taking it on and getting it done.
And sometimes, a whole barrel of shit just seems to hit all at once! And it’s duck and cover and cope as best you can.
I imagine everyone who’s reading this has experienced all three.
I feel like I’ve experienced all three this year, and it’s only the end of February!
While we can point to the moons, eclipses, stars, or our shadows as the culprits, overwhelm seems to have become a way of life for too many people.
Crystals can’t magically fix this, but they can help provide the energy support we need to ride these times out as best we can.
I’ve got two suggestions here for you: one is a combo you can wear on a daily basis for support, the second is a crystal healing session you can provide for yourself within the comfort of your own home.

Is it me, or does something about late Winter just make our bodies more prone to aches and pains? In the UK, January and February are cold, dark, damp months, and I am sure this doesn’t help. Back in the summer I harvested and infused a few batches of oil – you can find the details of how to do this here…..Rosemary ‘to remember’ Infused Oil
I wanted to make a ‘Muscle Ache’ balm using the oils I had infused, but this recipe will work equally well with a plain base oil and essential oils. It has a wonderful consistency, ending up a little more like an ‘ointment’ and is also excellent for menstrual cramps and pains. It is lovely to have the warm scent of Rosemary with you on a grey, winters day.
I have used the below infused oils for these properties;
- Lavender – To de-stress and…

In order to change it takes a lot of energy. Most will not change because they waste their energy on drama, conflict and television. In order to change it takes action. Not action of having done or will do something, but doing it now. People get stuck on analyzing themselves and their world and thinking about doing something. The problem with analyzing is the knowledge and wisdom is incomplete or wrong. The answers we get from analyzing will come from information that is incomplete or wrong.

As I shared a few weeks ago in my land healing framework post, the forest that I grew up in is having a big chunk cut out of it to make way for a septic line, a 40-60′ cut that will go for acres and acres. It’s coming directly through the refugia garden that my parents and I have worked for years to tend and cultivate, where the ramps, wild ginseng, bloodroot, hardwood nut trees, and so many others grow. My very favorite hawthorn tree, a tree that grew up with me and now stands tall will likely be removed by the line. The situation is extremely heartbreaking to me and my family–we have done everything we can to fight and try to get them to use the roadways or non-wooded areas to put in the line, but the condemnation papers have arrived, even the lawyers says it can’t be…

This New Moon is in Pisces and Aquarius depending on your location, and has the potential to activate your heart center and illuminate your imagination!
All new moons represent new beginnings and the opportunity to begin a new chapter. This one will help you tune in to what you truly desire so that you can manifest your dreams and goals.
This Seed Moon cycle represents the time of planting. Before we are able to plant seeds, we must first visualize the garden we are wanting to create and plan ahead. You will feel your creative juices flowing throughout this month in a few different ways. The Pisces and Aquarius energy will begin in your third eye and crown chakra, and slowly move through you helping you see the steps needed to reach your goals.
Mercury is retrograde this month until March 9th which will make it seem hard to complete tasks. Don’t be afraid to use this time to observe and visualize until it goes direct! You will feel another burst of energy on the 20th as we enter into the new season of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
The Seed Moon cycle is a month of movement! Each new moon, using our Tune to the Moon planners and decks as our guide, we write up the Lunar Report to help us all navigate the new cycle ahead.

Starting today we are under a beautiful Dark Balsamic Moon in Aquarius. When the Moon is in Aquarius she can bring up complicated emotions as Aquarius is a Moon that has a strong need for emotional freedom. And when we are under a Void of Course Moon the energies of discipline, submission, subordination, and spontaneity fit nicely into rituals exploring the shadow sides of emotion.
The Balsamic Moon is rightfully called the wishing Moon as she holds the beautiful energy to lift our wishes into the winds of the coming New Moon. Some even say that wishes made under the balsamic Moon are more likely to come true because our needs are felt more deeply under her. She teaches us to be more aware of our fears, self-doubts and difficult emotions at the close of the moon cycle. Can you feel the old emotional cycle breaking down? Remember my dear Moon…
