BLM is moving full steam ahead to send wild horses to Guyana

Straight from the Horse's Heart

This is how America’s wild horses will likely be treated in Guyana.  Do you think Guyana has sanctuaries where the wild horses will live after they’re used as work animals?  Or, do you think they’ll end up being slaughtered?  (As if this weren’t bad enough, the BLM will be sending them to an area with jaguars.)

Oro Cas Reflects

35129637_10212172488975018_6585539802395836416_nToday is a special day just like yesterday and last Sunday night. The reason the word “special” comes to mind is because Paula and I have brought something back to life from the past and it seems to function just as well today as when we put it in mothballs 3 years ago.

That something is KDCL Media, along with And Then Some Again Productions and it can mean only one thing.

The dust has been blown off of the virtual switchboard and we are producing all new Internet Radio shows again.

Today, in just over an hour, we will present our newest show called “Crypto and Then Some…” with a very special guest, Robyn Linn, along with two full hours of nothing but CRYPTO.

We will be covering Bitcoin, the Block Chain, and our experiences with it. Together with Robyn, we will be talking about a group of people…

Brazil Debates Fate of Millions of Idled Donkeys

by R.T. Fitch

Straight from the Horse's Heart

APODI, Brazil—The dependable donkey once did it all here in northeast Brazil, from hauling in the harvest to carrying children to remote schoolhouses. Now so many of these ubiquitous beasts of burden populate this vast swath of rural Brazil that they have become a problem—and for some, an opportunity.

Modernity and the skyrocketing sale of motorcycles have demoted the burro from its long-held status. Once cherished here for their hardy load-carrying, donkeys are increasingly seen as a nuisance as they saunter into traffic or munch greenery in people’s yards.

“Today, a donkey is born and nobody wants it,” lamented Eribaldo Nobre, 53, whose family used donkeys to lug fresh water home when he was a child. “Progress made this animal worthless.”

Enter China, where soaring demand for protein has put…

Update on wild horses of Fort Polk and Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana

by R.T. Fitch

Straight from the Horse's Heart

We received this update on wild horses of Fort Polk and Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana from our friend Amy Hanchey of Pegasus Equine Guardian Association:

Objections Filed in Case to Project Louisiana’s Free Roaming Wild Horses

Objections to the March 9th Report and Recommendation were filed on March 23rd, 2018

Link to Objections herehttps://pegasusequine.files.wordpress.com/2018/03/03-23-18-68-1-mem-re-objections-to-rr-1.pdf

Link to Report and Recommendation herehttps://pegasusequine.files.wordpress.com/2018/03/03-09-18-67-rr-on-pi1.pdf

Recap:
On Friday, March 9, on narrow grounds a Western District U.S. Magistrate Judge chose not to recommend that the Court stop the elimination of wild and free roaming horses at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

However the Court denied the Army’s two motions attempting to block Pegasus’s evidence on the issue and accepted the evidence on the record of the preliminary injunction.

The Magistrate Judge relied on two factors to find that harm to the plaintiff is not “irreparable”: Pegasus had…

Navajo Nation Cancels Plans for Wild Horse Hunt

Straight from the Horse's Heart

story by Hannah Grover as published Daily Times

“The story below is presented unedited so you will see the word ‘feral’ used often.  I do not claim to possess abundant knowledge as to the origins of the horses on Navajo land, but I cringe when I hear that word applied to the wild horses on public lands as they are at the very least,  a reintroduced natural species (fodder for an OpEd, later).  So tighten up, you are about to enter Feral Land.” ~ R.T.

A controversial hunt was aimed at reducing the numbers of feral horses near Teec Nos Pos, Arizona

This Scenario Averted – for the time being

FARMINGTON —  A wild horse hunt aimed at thinning a herd in an Arizona trophy hunt area was abruptly cancelled on Monday as opposition to the hunt grew and a protest was planned.

The tribal government’s natural resource regulators last week issued…

THE WORST PLAN EVER FOR WILD HORSE MANAGEMENT- CANCELED!

Straight from the Horse's Heart

“We received this information from Elaine Nash last night” – R.T.

Earlier this month, the Navajo nation had announced a plan to sell hunting permits to 60 Navajo hunters, with the first hunt scheduled for March 27, 2018. As of today, due to the diligent work of wild horse advocates, that very bad plan to shoot 60 wild horses has been canceled.
.
There will probably be many new efforts launched to help the Navajo people with their wild horse management issue. Please support these efforts. Donate, participate, educate, adopt. This very close call definitely got the attention of the wild horse advocacy community. Now, let’s be sure that we do what we can to be sure it never happens again. It might not be canceled the next time.

(To be clear, Fleet of Angels nor I should be credited with this save. We did no more to stop this…
