Attracting Like Minded People

Cultural Appropriation, Plant Relationships, and Nature Connection

Dana's avatarThe Druid's Garden

As a druid, someone who connects to the local landscape spiritually, I’ve gotten my fair share questions about cultural appropriation and druidry’s relationship to indigenous practices, particularly traditions indigenous to the USA. The conversation may go something like this, “So druidry, is that like Native American?” My response is, “Druids and Native Americans both honor and respect the land, and see spiritual significance in nature.  However, Druidry comes from a different cultural tradition (the British Isles, particularly Wales) and our relationship with the land, spiritual practices, and celebrations are completely different than indigenous peoples in North America”  Another thing that happens with some frequency is that I describe something on this blog, like land healing, building sacred spaces, or other such spiritual work. And someone who has never commented before leaves a comment that says something like “You don’t have a right to do that, this land belongs…

Benefits of Moringa: A Nutritional Powerhouse

Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs's avatarCrooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

Famously called “the miracle tree” thanks to its exceptional nutritional content and therapeutic potential, moringa more than lives up to its name. Moringa offers numerous health benefits, including protecting against free radicals and promoting a strong immune system in all stages of life. Among other things, moringa supports the heart, brain, and liver, and can even give your sex drive a boost.

You might see it sold as a “superfood” in grocery and health food stores, but moringa is no passing fad. For centuries, people have consumed various parts of the moringa tree for health, energy, and other therapeutic qualities.

Moringa contains an abundance of vitamins and minerals, but, according to scientists, many of moringa’s benefits come from its phytochemicals, which include isothiocyanates, chlorogenic acid, and flavonoids like quercetin.

What Is Moringa?

Did you know that moringa is sometimes called the “tree of life”?

WILDCRAFTING: GETTING TO THE ROOT OF OUR ETHOS

Botany & Wildcrafting Course by Herbal Academy

We use the terms “wildcrafted” and “wild-harvested” when describing products. Specifically, this term refers to the aromatics – the essential oil scent blends that transport you to another place, another time and bring the mountains into your home.

Wildcrafting is not some trendy thing. In fact, humans have been wildcrafting since we could walk. The term, however, is new to our industry and to the vocabulary of consumers. Let’s explore what wildcrafting means to us.

Wildcrafting is the practice of harvesting things in the wild for our use. Whether that comes in the form of decorative art (think bones, branches, grasses), wild foods (think mushrooms, berries, nuts), medicinal herbs, or aromatics, wildcrafting is done for pleasure, necessity and tradition by some peoples and to our great benefit.

In our case, we harvest aromatic ingredients to scent our bath, body and home products. Wildcrafting helps us absorb the beauty of nature…

Crystal Empowerment For Empaths

Are you an empath?

Are you someone who’s so sensitive to the feelings of others that you experience them as your own?

If so, you’re in good company: I’m an empath, too.

And I’ll be completely honest with you: I went through energy hell living in New York City. It’s a pressure-cooker, and I was doing spiritual healing which required me to be extra in tune.

It was overwhelming, to say the least.

It took me a looooong time to learn how to manage being an empath, but I never saw it as a liability – I saw it as a strength.

It was how I was able to tune in so powerfully to my crystals, read my clients’ energy systems, have a sensory awareness of the vibes in a space when I was doing a space clearing.

It was also how I was able to fill a room with healing presence, because yeah, empaths aren’t just receiving, they’re projecting, too.

It was a gift that I learned to nurture.

So the # of messages I get on a weekly basis from empaths asking me how they can protect themselves from other peoples’ feelings concerns me.

It concerns me because it means that they’re not in their power. They’re exposed, vulnerable, suffering. And it’s my experience that the empaths of the world are our healers, our artists, teachers, guides.
