Slavic Faceless Doll Talisman and its Magical Powers

In ancient times, the Slavs took making doll talisman quite seriously. Dolls were the main charms, as each carried out their “duties”. Most identified with the image of female deities and goddesses, dolls like Zernushka was “responsible” for a good harvest. But to grow and harvest food is only half the battle. The harvest should provide a comfortable life and prosperity in the home and to do this without the doll Bogatka (Great Tit song bird)does not work, our ancestors believed this.

At its base, the doll had a wand also called a column, for which it was also called Stolbushka (same as Motanka Doll). For full prosperity in the house it was necessary to ensure that the doll was not bothered to fulfill its “duties”, it was hidden from prying eyes and could even be kept on an altar.
