Botanical Background:

Member of the mint family; 42 species native to the Mediterranean or Eurasia. Most found only wild, especially in Cyprus, southern Turkey, western Syria, and Lebanon.


Perennial or shrubby plants range in height from 2-3 inches to 3 feet or more. Aromatic leaves; small purple, pink or white flowers highly attractive to bees and butterflies.


Common oregano {O. vulgare} and its subspecies and varieties are hardy to Zone 5 or 6. Sweet marjoram {O. majorana}, Turkish oregano {O. onites} and other tender species usually are grown as annuals.


Full sun; well-drained soil; neutral to alkaline pH.

Harvest Tips:

For use in cooking, cut branches back by half just before bloom.

Picture P102Hello and welcome to astrologic diary here we study the major events of the last month, in astrological terms.

Such February does not happen often. About once every 20 years. The last one was in 1999. Then and now February does not have a Full Moon, instead there are two Full Moons in January and March. In this case, it is said that February has a Black Moon.

In some sources Black Moon February is considered as a dark mystical period when the occult power is particularly strong, a month when the most incredible things can happen… when the events look so meaningful… and secrets begin to reveal… Quite possible that is true. And I planned to put the point here since I wanted to write a small post and I saw nothing special in everyday life. But later I realized… that something really went… not as usual.

Straight from the Horse's Heart

Earlier this month, the Navajo nation had announced a plan to sell hunting permits to 60 Navajo hunters, with the first hunt scheduled for March 27, 2018. As of today, due to the diligent work of wild horse advocates, that very bad plan to shoot 60 wild horses has been canceled.
There will probably be many new efforts launched to help the Navajo people with their wild horse management issue. Please support these efforts. Donate, participate, educate, adopt. This very close call definitely got the attention of the wild horse advocacy community. Now, let’s be sure that we do what we can to be sure it never happens again. It might not be canceled the next time.
