‘Miss Cat’ has been a reader and rootworker for most of her life. She is a writer, teacher, graphic artist, web designer, perfumer, and herbalist, a minister and a member of the Board of Bishops of Missionary Independent Spiritual Church, a founding member of AIRR, and a member of the board of directors of the Yronwode Institution for the Preservation and Popularization of Indigenous Ethnomagicology (YIPPIE). I am a pastor at the Crystal Silence League and am listed at Hoodoo Psychics. Along with her husband, Nagasiva she owns the Lucky Mojo Curio Company, manufactory for spiritual supplies.

She is also host of the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour on BTR, and the author of many books including Throwing The Bones, and The Art of Hoodoo Candle Magic.

Diviners’ Spotlight allows the talented diviners in the KDCL Media Circle to strut their stuff for our listeners. We have so many talented people in our Circle that we have to sit on our hands to keep from waving to get y’all’s attention.

Sunday’s primary diviner is:

Monroe Rodriguez. Monroe is a multifaceted psychic, medium, spiritualist, healer and diviner. Building upon family psychic gifts, he studied magick, herbalism, comparative religion and various divination systems. Although an initiate of a Congo-derived tradition, Monroe’s spiritual practices stem from Celtic, West African, Arab, Indigenous, Caribbean, and Brazilian ancestral roots. With his spiritual affinity to spirits of the crossroads, Monroe believes that are many solutions to a problem however, efficiency is key to any work.

Sitting in the our second seat Sunday will be KDCL Media host, Miss Paula, a medium using Tarot and Oracle cards as she passes on messages from Spirit.

A Happy and Blessed Father’s Day to all the fathers past, present and future. Sunday, April 16th at 8pm edt, Egun And Then Some… is featuring two very dear friends to Miss Paula and Oro, Author, Lanaia Lee and Voice Man, writer and Internet radio host Viktor Aurelius.

Paradox Five is Author Lanaia Lee’s newest title. Paradox Five, involves five people who go back in time to stop Hitler’s well-hidden grandson from becoming the mirror image of his grandfather in the latter-days.

Viktor Aurelius, the Voice, beautifully recites poetry, and reads stories and monologues. His hypnotic tone will leave you wanting to hear more. Listen to his show, and you shall be enthralled.

Viktor writes, performs and produces many wonderful audio dramas including Lilith’s Children and his most recent venture, Victoria! Empress of the Universe.

Gnostic ReikiOn Monday, June 3, 2013 and Monday June 10, 2013 at 8pm edt, Candelo Kimbisa welcomes esteemed scholar and Elder, Eoghan Ballard, PhD to Candelo’s Corner on KDCL Media.

Tata Eoghan Ballard, PhD, will be sharing with our listeners the history of Quimbanda, Candomble, and Umbanda, traditions of Brazil.

Eoghan Ballard has been involved in cultural and spiritual research since childhood. By the age of 9 he had begun to explore and study the dream experience and by 11 was beginning to explore alternate religion and spiritual traditions.

In his teens he had traveled to and studied in Ireland, learning traditional culture, music, and language becoming fluent in Gaelic language and studying traditional Gaelic spiritual traditions. This included eventually looking into the metaphysical and spiritual aspects of the Celtic Revival’s leaders such as George Russell (AE) William Butler Yeats, and S. L. Macgregor Mathers, studying systems like Tarot, Yoga, Meditation, Golden Dawn, Freemasonry, Umbanda, OTO, and of course Reiki. He was initiated in Cuba as Tata Nganga Dibilongo in several ramas or orders of Palo including Quimbisa, and is a practicing Vodousaint.

Eoghan attended Philadelphia College of Art before receiving a BA in English Literature from Temple University, and both a Masters and Doctorate in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania, where he worked for 15 years. Additionally, he also has taught at various area colleges including local community colleges and served both as a Professor in Social Sciences and an academic campus dean in New Jersey. He has been invited several times as a guest lecturer for the Dept. of Religious Studies at Swarthmore College.

Candelo’s Corner Welcomes Dr. Marta Moreno Vega

Dr Vega 1Monday, May 6th at 8pm edt, Internet radio host Candelo Kimbisa welcomes Yoruba scholar, filmmaker and author, Dr. Marta Moreno Vega to Candelo’s Corner.

Dr. Marta Moreno Vega has dedicated her professional life to developing culturally grounded institutions, and placing the history and culture of African descendants in the Diaspora onto the time clock of world history. She is founder and president of the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute, an international non-profit, created in 1976.

She has conducted extensive research in Yoruba Belief systems in the African Diaspora and has organized three international conferences uniting scholars and traditional leaders who are experts on these religions.

When the Spirits Dance Mambo was directed and produced by Dr. Moreno Vega, who also authored a book by the same title. Filmed in Cuba, this documentary focuses on the impact of Santeria on the Civil Society of the island.

She is co-editor of Voices from the Battlefront: Achieving Cultural Equity and author of The Altar of My Soul: The Living Traditions of Santeria.

Dr. Moreno Vega’s current project, Let The Spirits Move You, is a celebration of ancestral belief systems that are a proud and important part of our cultural legacy as African descendants. The documentary focuses on the African based spiritual traditions that continue in Puerto Rico grounded in ancestral worship – espiristmo.

Our Mountain Home Welcomes Preston Fest

Daniel Witter is the organizer of this year’s Preston Fest, a musical festival fund raiser, for the Bobby Preston Memorial Fund. 

Preston Fest is held at the Frostburg Community Park, June 15, 11:30 am to 10 pm. Located at 200 South Water Street, Frostburg, Maryland

A new addition to the 2013 festival is the New Leaf Holistic Village.

New Leaf will provide many opportunities to expand festival attendees knowledge of a wide array of topics–holistic health, wellness and spirituality through exhibits and free workshops. New Leaf will also feature intuitive and psychic readers, energy balancing, spiritual mediums, specialty organic products, and unique one-of-a-kind gifts.

The most satisfying part of the New Leaf experience is festival goers becoming acquainted with the speakers, workshop presenters, and vendors.
