A federal judge on Tuesday tossed a lawsuit brought by Utah ranchers demanding the Bureau of Land Management remove “excess” wild horses from several areas in the West Desert they say are overrun with free-roaming horses that displace their cattle.
Represented by Karen Budd-Falen, a Wyoming lawyer who sources say is undergoing final vetting to serve as the BLM’s next director, the ranchers argued that federal law requires the removal of horses that exceed population targets the agency has set for particular herd areas. Living in an equestrian community it has always been the ‘law of the land’ to ban all types of fireworks at all times of the year for the sake of the horses and donkeys, but of course; there is always a drunk or unsupervised teenager who attempts to press the envelope during the 4th of July. But all in all, we manage to stem the panic at a local level but are not exempt from the pops and booms from neighboring communities and our companion animals end up suffering stress from the surrounding commotion.

The Healing Powers of Cats
There are many stories of animals as healers. Research shows that simply petting a cat or dog can lower your blood pressure. Therapy animals who visit nursing homes and hospices bring peace and joy to patients who may not have smiled in months.
There are stories of horses who help people heal emotional and psychological issues, stories about dogs who can somehow sense cancer in people, even before doctors can find it, and dogs who can tell when a person is about to have a seizure.

I’m always amazed at the number of people that ‘work’ in the spiritual realm that have no idea about grounding themselves.
Being grounded is that feeling you get when you walk barefoot on dewy green grass, sensing the breeze tickle your skin and the deepness of your chest expanding with every inhale. It is the feeling common to children, one of connectedness to the awe and wonder of simply being.
In an age where we find ourselves buffering our true existence with technology, the consequences run deep. You could experience everything from chronic crankiness, mental fatigue, and poor memory to lacking inspiration for a project or motivation for mundane tasks.
