Magic alert! We’re entering one of the most potent times of year, and we’ve got a deep, dark and delicious full moon ushering us in. Tonight’s Scorpio full moon at 8:58pm ET initiates a phase of transformation, karmic healing, sexuality, and intense emotion. And then on May 1st we have Beltane, blessed spring festival where fertility, sensuality and the magic of the earthly plane (and of nature spirits and the fae!), are celebrated with fires, feasting, and fun! This is definitely a time of embodiment, feeling, pleasure, growth, and while it’s a sexy time. The healing we can experience comes from letting go of old, seductive patterns, people, and choices that no longer serves us. Could you be enjoying your life more? Head on over to my blog to read more about this full moon’s energy and influences, and for crystal suggestions that can help you rock this gorgeous, fecund phase! And for those of you who celebrate, happy Beltane! |
The easiest way to drive me nuts is to litter in front of me, on any given day, but especially on Earth Day. I can’t stand it, I have to pick the trash up and snidely say to the offender “How about I put this in the garbage for you?!!”
And the people who pick up their dog’s poop in a bag, but then toss that bag on the ground and leave it??? @#$%!!! Who ARE those people?!!!!!!
Seriously, how low is that level of consciousness?
While, given all that’s going on in the world, some may say that littering is the least of offenses in comparison, I’m inclined to disagree. It’s the meaning of the action that I find particularly disturbing: If someone literally walked over you and dropped trash on your face, how would you feel? Disrespected. De-valued. Violated. Hurt. Demeaned?
What is it saying about a person’s relationship to the Earth when they do that? To the land they currently occupy. To that which gives and sustains life?
It makes me reflect on my own relationship to the Earth, to the land upon which I stand. When was the last time I actually looked at it, connected with it, realized that I was in a partnership with it?
I’m a gardener, I love to garden, and I have plants all throughout my home, but how often do I pause during my day to recognize the consciousness in the plant beings around me? The symbiotic energy relationship that forms whether I’m aware of it or not?
This is important, because it is healing.
If there are two major things we, as human beings, have pinpointed as powerfully healing and restorative forces in our lives, it’s mindfulness (or presence), and being in nature.
We have to consciously choose to return to these two things because of the draining nature of the world we have created around, and within, ourselves.
Every plant has a spirit. Every element has a spirit. Every tree has a spirit. Every crystal has a spirit. The the land upon which you stand or occupy has spirits that represent it. The Earth herself has a consciousness, her own divine spirit.
To cultivate a stronger awareness of and relationship to these spirits is healing. It’s like finally recognizing a child or friend who’s been waiting around for you to notice them, to care about them, and becoming in tune with your own need to be a part of them.
Over time and throughout history, a huge rift has been formed between large sections of humanity and nature. A relationship that was once revered has now been abused, forgotten, neglected, and in some sad cases destroyed.
The miracle is that it can be repaired.
I don’t know if we can heal the deleterious effects we’ve had on our planet, but I KNOW FOR SURE that we can heal our relationship to Her, and this goes well beyond clean ups and conservation efforts.
To truly heal the relationship, we have to make an effort to rejoin it, and that means consciously cultivating our relationships to the spirits of the land and nature that surround us.

Ok, so you know all of those changes you keep meaning to make, but somehow just haven’t put in place yet? Or maybe there’s that one big step you have to take to get things started (or ended), but it’s a gutsy move, and you just haven’t felt ready yet?
Well, get ready.
This upcoming new moon in Aries (Sunday 4/15 at 9:57pm ET) delivers the energy, motivation, and guts you need for creating much needed change.
This new cycle of manifestation (new moon), start of the astrological new year, AND mercury going direct, combined with Aries’ characteristics of action and courage, all lead up to endless possibilities and opportunities to recreate.
I’ve felt this influence already in my own life: getting things moving, starting things up, moving things forward.
But this moon isn’t just about the new: it’s about revisiting the old in new ways. Breakthroughs, second chances, opportunities re-imagined and reclaimed, as well as last-minute solutions, may all present themselves at this time.
It’s definitely a time to not only reflect on what’s not working in your life, but to make some decisions as to what you can do about it, and then taking real action.
Learn from past mistakes, try thinking differently, and approach things from a new perspective or with a new plan of attack. This isn’t the time to do things in a way you’ve done before, or to listen to what other people are telling you to do.
Be bold. Be big. Be brave. Be YOU, and claim this opportunity to reinvent, recreate, re-vision, and live more in alignment with your own inner truth. It’s not always an easy thing to do, so it’s best to do it at times when the Universe has your back.
Wear the following crystals as you set intention for this new moon, and as you work towards making positive changes.
Fluorite is a crystal of higher mind, intellect, insight, learning, planning, clarity and focus.
Azurite is a crystal that helps us powerfully tap into our imaginations, creativity, intuition, and to think outside the box.
Red jasper is a stone of courage, strength, fortitude, stamina and action.
Aragonite star cluster is a crystal of leadership through deep healing, transformation, and supports us in making honest, authentic, positive changes.

Mimosa Manager Cathy Douglas had this to share:
Labradorite has a lot in common with Moonstone: both are feldspars sharing the same basic makeup (Ca, Na)(Al, Si)4O8), and both show a distinctive, often-bluish inner shine that results when light reflects back from the inner planes of feldspar. But its darker color gives Labradorite a highly spiritual quality, so that people going through spiritual awakening or development often find themselves irresistibly attracted to it.
Safety note: Please don’t use Labradorite to make elixirs, since it contains aluminum.

On a recent trip to one of my favorite crystal shops, I had my boys in tow, ages 7 and 9. I did my usual thing where I grab a basket and start ransacking the crystals bins, and my kids asked if they could get something. That’s when it occurred to me that my house was full of crystals, like, I have crystals spread out on all flat surfaces of my home – but they were all mine. None of them were technically chosen or cared for by my kids, and I thought, why not? I preach the benefits of crystals all the time; I’m missing this huge opportunity to get my kids involved in this from a young age so that it’s second nature to them as they are growing up. So, I told them, yes, they could each choose one thing. It was sort of an experiment for me to see what they would choose and to figure out why they were drawn to that particular crystal, and the result was, as I expected and much to my delight, they both chose crystals that had properties pertaining to problems/issues they were currently experiencing.
My youngest suffers from night terrors, and he chose a Brown Striped Jasper sphere. Brown Striped Jasper happens to be known as “the supreme nurturer” stone, promoting tranquility and support during stressful times. It’s also effective at banishing nightmares. My oldest chose a huge chunk of Snowflake Obsidian, which helps keep you centered and focused and is a very effective grounding stone. He happens to suffer from flightiness and has difficulty maintaining attention and focus, especially in regard to school work.
It was so amazing to see them drawn to these stones that could help them, with no prompting on my part. I really believe that most kids are very “in tune” with themselves and with the energies of these stones. A lot of them haven’t been blocked by stress or anxiety or worry like us adults, therefore they can easily pick up the energy of crystals and have a sense of what to use them for. If you are thinking of getting your kids into crystals, maybe let them choose for themselves and then see which properties of those crystals may have called to them!

A woodburned sign bidding druids to enter a sacred space
“This is sacred time, this is sacred space.” At the end of the opening of every OBOD ritual, this powerful statement is made. But what does “sacred time, sacred space” really mean? What is “the sacred” and how do we know it? What is sacred in the context of American Druidry, where we do not have an abundance of ancient stone circles or accessible sacred sites? In this post, I want to spend some time today thinking about the ways we might enact the sacred in our own lives and lands as part of building sacred landscapes and re-enchanting our land.
In my first post in this series, I talked about the “disenchantment” of the world through industrialization and the rise of a religious tradition that did not acknowledge the land as sacred. And truly, a disenchanted worldview–where…

Over the last two weeks, we’ve been exploring the idea of re-enchanting the world. Two weeks ago, I introduced the idea of re-enchantment through a discussion Max Weber’s claims that the world has been “disenchanted” by industrialization. Re-enchanting, then, is potential work that we as druids and earth-centered spiritual people might do. If we want to do this re-enchantment, however, we need to draw upon and better understand the ways in which ancient humans created sacred landscapes. In last week’s post, we explored the historical understanding of “ley lines” and alignments on the earth to understand some of the physical tools that ancient humans worldwide used to enchant the world. Today’s post continues this discussion in a more metaphysical sense–understanding the more modern “ley line theory” as it applies to earth energy and considering the energetic work we might do.

Libra Full Moon Crystals: Keep Your Cool, Get a Fresh StartThe libra full moon becomes exact this Saturday March 31st at 8:36am ET. This is being viewed as a challenging moon, one that upends our sense of balance, while encouraging us to find new ways of maintaining it. This full moon will have us looking at our relationships (including the one we have with ourselves), our needs, where we can compromise fairly, where we need to come up with new solutions to old problems. Given the energies and influences there will be moment of anger, frustration, wanting to charge headlong into change or battle, and a whole lotta tension. The challenge is for us to face all of this with a cool head, clear mind, and open heart. It’s an opportunity to start fresh and make some new beginnings, but it’s going to make us earn it! The more you stay focused on your highest vision, and keep putting one loving, mindful foot in front of the other, the better off you’ll be. |
