There’s a Crystal for That!

Today I will begin a 6-week series on crystals to use around your home. Many of us carry or wear our crystals to help us with various healing, but you can also set crystals around your home to promote certain atmospheres or help carry out specific intentions. When using crystals in your home, you can choose to display large crystals in the form of towers or spheres, or you may wish to be more subtle by hiding small tumbled stones in drawers or under sofa cushions. Whichever way you prefer will be perfectly fine and will have the same effect.

For week 1, here is a list of crystals to use in your kitchen/dining area. The kitchen for many people is the hub of their home. This modern-day hearth is a high-traffic area for most families and tends to be a place where people gather when we have friends or family visiting. This is also the space where we nourish ourselves and our loved ones, which is why keeping this space energetically healthy can be very important. Here are 4 crystals to give your kitchen a spiritual remodel.

1. Agate – Agate has a very gentle, calming energy that is good for grounding and promotes overall wellness and longevity.

2. Amazonite – This stone opens both the heart and the throat chakra, promoting loving communication. It dispels negativity and is beneficial for calcium and mineral absorption.

3. Chryscolla – Chrysocolla purifies the environment in which it’s placed and promotes love and understanding. It can bring tranquility and serenity to the space, as well as bond family members together, improving the relationships between people by encouraging positive communication.

4. Jasper – All jaspers are known to be great nurturers. Whichever type of jasper you choose will alleviate stress and tension in the space and will encourage altruism and strengthen the family bond. It also clears electromagnetic and environmental pollution from the space, as well as work toward clearing emotional/mental negativity from the people sharing the space.

New Moon + Solar Eclipse in Leo — How Do You Hide Your Light?
Dear all,
As you know, the New Moon time is a time of new beginnings, but this one is also asking you that in order to truly begin something new, you first need to look at how you hide your light. Most of us do it because of the fears or perceived failures from the past and with this Eclipse we are asked to become deeply aware of this and release those obstacles.
This Eclipse is also strongly influenced by the retrograde Mercury, as well as retrograde Pluto, which means that the theme of the past is that much more strongly emphasized.
Whatever questions come up for you during this time, whatever issues that you thought were behind you or fears that you thought you overcame — be brave and look at them again. They will have much less power over you if you do so. And write, write, write . . . about everything and anything . . . here is where the Mercury retrograde will really help you take it all out in the open . . .
Crystals to help with this are Sunstone, Orange Calcite (pictured), Green Calcite, Citrine, Fluorite, Smokey Quartz . . .
The Eclipse happens in the early morning on Saturday, august 11th, and will not be visible in North America.
Remember that during the Eclipse part of what we need to know is hidden from us. So assume that you do not have all the information for any projects that you may have coming up and wait a little before putting things into action or you’ll have to redo it later.
After the 19th, things will become much clearer and we will all get the “go-ahead” from the Universe.

Last weekend, some druid friends came over for a retreat with a focus on land healing. As part of the ritual we collaboratively developed, we wanted to make an offering to the spirits of the land. I went to my sacred tobacco patch and carefully gathered leaves drying at the bottoms of the plant and flowers for use in this offering, humming a song that the tobacco had taught me and making sure that none of the leaves hit the ground in the process. The ritual went beautifully well and the offering was well received by the spirits.  After the weekend, it struck me how long my relationship with these particular tobacco plants was–more than a decade at this point from seed to leaf to flower to seed.  And how I had something to share about cultivating this relationship over time.

The Total Lunar Eclipse Energy Mix ~ What Is Actually Going On?
Dear all,
When Sun opposes Mars — as it will on Friday — it is common to feel either combative and irritable or have low energy and low self-confidence.
When Sun opposes Mars which is
1) currently in retrograde motion
2) partnered with Moon, and
3) on top of that the Full Moon and
4) on top of that the Total Lunar Eclipse that is the longest one of the century!
5) and opposed to the South Node of past experiences
6) and happening just as Mercury turned retrograde
7) and is affected by Uranus
— you may imagine that this day would be something for the books.
[If you’ve read elsewhere about other planets going retrograde — Saturn, Neptune, Pluto — they do so every single year for several months, and as they are the outer planets, that is not really going to present any dramatic influence at this time, except if they connect with your personal planets in the natal chart]
Direct influence of this energy is on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and this would be a perfect time to have an energy session, as any change you want to make will be able to go deeper than usual.
This is not a good time to begin anything new and it would be better to spend this time by yourself, turned inward.
Avoid — if you can — any discussions, meetings, travel, being in large groups of people or new projects.
Even though this Total Lunar Eclipse will not be visible in North America, and therefore this will lessen one negative aspect of its influence (the disappearance of Moon’s light), it is still very likely going to contribute to the overall feelings of not being in control.
So — go with the flow — and reflect, meditate, relax and let go of any expectations. And just be a silent observer — you may discover some things you haven’t previously considered.

Avoid reacting and responding to aggressive and antagonistic people. Avoid places where these energies and individuals are likely to assemble. Avoid wearing red, or eating spicy foods during this blood moon season. Connect with these energies not to ignite aggression but to ignite a passion to get something completed, to look Truth in its face, to invigorate your being, to dive into Joy.
