New Moon / Solar Eclipse January 5

Dear All,
Happy New Year!! Hope you have already planted some seeds! And if not — it is not too late — the upcoming New Moon in Capricorn opens an amazing energetic doorway for new beginnings!

New Moon in Capricorn / Solar Eclipse in Capricorn happens exactly at 8:29pm EST on Saturday, January 5th. It happens between Saturn and Pluto and connects with Neptune, emphasizing the following:
- wise decision making
- learning from the past to transform the future
- being pragmatic while following your dreams
- balancing methodical approach with intuitive guidance
- achieving deep understanding from spiritual learning
And of course, all this while opening the doors for new beginnings. The window for this is quite wide — all day Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Additional astro alignments involving Mercury, Uranus, Venus and Chiron are accentuating expanded thinking, expanded consciousness, enlightening revelations, healing through beauty, art, spirituality, mentorship and supportive relationships . . .

Crystals to use during this time are Pink Tourmaline, Green Aventurine, Red Jasper, Carnelian, Mahogany Obsidian, Black Obsidian, Herkimer Diamond, Phenacite, Moldavite . . . This obviously not all at once at the same time but as you feel guided, up to 3 different stones at most if you are a crystal beginner, and not while driving . . . Remember that crystals can powerfully move your energies so if you are working with a crystal that is new to you, make sure to do it first at home, for a short period of time.
And if you are a newbie in the crystal world, I recommend listening to myjust released podcast HERE
Even if you already know a lot about crystals, you might find it useful. We are scheduling the time for another one that will be more advanced — if you would like me to address specific topics not covered in this one — send me an email and let me know 🙂 🙂

Quaoar – The Sacredness of Life
The Astronomy and Astrology of
Quaoar
Quaoar (pronounced kwah-whar) was the name given to the “creation force” by the Native American Tongva tribe who were the original inhabitants of the Los Angeles basin in Southern California—several thousand years ago when the LA basin was a vast and lush willow forest. According to legend, Quaoar, “came down from heaven; and, after reducing chaos to order, laid out the world on the back of seven giants. He then created the lower animals, and then (or from them) humankind.”
Quaoar was discovered by Mike Brown, a professor of planetary science at the California Institute of Technology and colleague Chad Trujillo in a digital image taken June 4, 2002, 05:41:40 UT from the Palomar Observatory 48-inch Oschin telescope in California. Quaoar was identified in the image on June 5, 2002, 10:48:08 PDT (the best discovery time to use for astrological purposes).

Full Cold Moon in Gemini | A Vision Board Ritual — Spirit de la Lune
Tonight is the Full Cold Moon, and those of us in the northern hemisphere are likely going to feel a turn in the weather from here on out as the Full November Moon often marks colder temperatures on the way.
The Full Moon in Gemini is the perfect time for planning ahead and envisioning your future. Typically New Moon’s hold great energy for setting intention, but the Cold Moon represents an ebb in energy, and that couldn’t be more perfect as Mercury is in Retrograde until the 6th of December. Take this time to look at your intentions and goals. Rework what needs to be reworked! Refine your intention.

Full Moon in Gemini

| Dear all, This Full Moon in Gemini — Thursday and Friday — (check the full details below) — brings the energy of increased communication and higher learning, and you can go deeper with something that you started learning last year at about this time. At the same time, while you may clear up or revise something from the past, make sure that you present any new ideas with clarity and patience. The need to be right may be stronger than usual and the need to teach or preach may become overbearing if you don’t practice moderation. Due to the stressful aspects between this Moon and Mars, as well as Mercury retrograde, you need to be EXTRA careful to avoid any arguments as well as while driving Thursday and Friday. The Moon enters Gemini an hour before midnight and reaches its peak (becomes completely Full) at 39 minutes after midnight on the 23rd EST, less than a day after Sun enters Sagittarius. Crystals to use: Fluorite, Aquamarine, Mahogany Obsidian The mind may go into overdrive, so if you can’t sleep, you can meditate (check out my recorded Better Sleep meditations https://crystalcosmopolitan.com/meditation/ or use that “awake time” to put on paper some practical plans. If you need any energy sessions (Crystal Reiki, Accunect or Tesla Healing) to carry you through or recover afterwards 🙂 — you know where to find me — crystalcosmopolitan.com and universalenergywaves.com Happy Thanksgiving! Home-Grown and Wildcrafted Smudge Sticks: Plant List and Recipes
Basket of newly made smudge sticks
Creating homemade smudge sticks with local ingredients is a wonderful activity to do this time of year. As the plants die back, you can harvest whatever you aren’t using for other purposes and create a number of beautiful smudges that can be used for many different purposes: clearing, honoring spirits, protection, setting intentions, letting go, bringing in, preparing for ritual or mediation, and much more.
A few years ago, I wrote an initial post on homemade smudge sticks using local ingredients–this has become my most popular post on my blog. Given that, I wanted to offer a follow-up post with some additional information and share a few smudge stick recipes for specific purposes. For initial instructions on how to make your sticks, please see my first post. This post expands the plant list that you can use to make smudges and also offers…

Making Smudge Sticks from Homegrown Plants and Wildharvested Materials: Step by Step Instructions with Cedar, Rosemary, Sage, Mugwort, and More!
I recently posted about my research on Eastern White Cedar, and I wanted to follow-up that post with information on making smudge sticks, inspired by Eastern White Cedar. Smudge sticks are bundles of herbs that are dried and burned for purification and ceremonial uses. They come out of Native American traditions, but today they are broadly used by many for their purification purposes. I use them as a druid in my ceremonies, to bless and cleanse my house, to cleanse outdoor spaces that are in some kind of energetic funk. But I also use them practically–as a blessing for my garden at the start of the growing season, as a way to remove hostile energies from my chickens who aren’t getting along, or to pass among friends before sharing a meal. They are a great way to bring a bit of ceremony and the sacred into the everyday.
