Reachout Worldwide ~ Hurricane Florence Relief

Hurricane Florence Response.

Reach Out WorldWide is on the ground in Wilmington, North Carolina working around the clock to provide rescue and clear access ways in the city that has now been “cut off” due to damage and flooding from Hurricane Florence. The damage in North Carolina is severe and the need for help is overwhelming. Immediate needs are still rescue, shelter, food, water, and road clearing.

Florence continues to crawl across the Carolinas dumping record-breaking rainfall across the states. Flash flood and tornado warnings are in affect. Nearly 1 million homes and businesses have lost power so far. ROWW is working directly with the Brunswick Sheriff’s Department and we continue to coordinate closely with NVOAD partners.

As water levels drop, we will move in a larger team to begin with the post-disaster clean up efforts. Our Stage 2 primary efforts will be chainsaw, debris removal, and muck and gut. We will be calling upon volunteers to join our team. Please email responders@roww.org if you are interested in volunteering. Unable to donate your time? You can still make a direct impact by donating to this cause at donate.roww.org/hurricaneflorence!

Your involvement is critical to our success and helping as many as possible. Thank you for your help.

Team Reach Out World Wide Heads To Guatemala

Efforts to locate and dig out victims of this week’s devastating volcanic eruptions have been put on hold due to dangerous conditions. Authorities warn of the potential for additional lava flow and as of this morning, the Guatemalan government called off the search effort, saying ongoing rains combined with still-scorching ash and toxic gases on the ground made it too risky for crews to work in the region. The recent disaster is blamed for almost 100 deaths and about 200 others still missing as of today. Over 1.7 million people are affected.

Outside the disaster area, residents have lined up for hours to receive supplies, some of them having spent days without food and even water, with lava flows contaminating many local supplies.

Team ROWW is gearing up with supplies and a medical team to head in once conditions are deemed safe for our volunteers. Please help us get much needed supplies to Guatemala by checking out our Wish List. Remember to use Amazon Smile and choose Reach Out WorldWide as your charity of choice for 0.5% of your purchase to go back to ROWW. You can also Donate to help with the logistics of this deployment. Thank you for helping Guatemala!

Team Reach Out Worldwide in Arkansas

unnamed

Reach Out WorldWide has sent a team to assist homeowners and residents with clean up efforts after record flooding has inundated the mid-south. After a flood overwhelms a home, residents are often left with nothing. All of their belongings are contaminated, mold begins growing everywhere, and the bones of the home begin rotting. For most, the scene is impossible; it’s too intimidating to even know where to start. That’s where ROWW comes in. We help remove the home’s ruined contents, help sort what is salvageable, remove flooring, drywall, and all flood-damaged contents so that the drying process begins as quickly as possible and mold is abated. Typically, because of the severe damage and risk of mold, homes are required to be taken down all the way to the studs. Once the “muck and gut” is complete, the rebuilding process can begin. Your donation will help equip our team of qualified volunteers with the tools and resources we need to muck and gut flood damaged homes and get residents started on their path to recovery. Even $1 makes a difference.

Donate to Support the Flood Victims in Arkansas

“We were all told it was a 100-year flood and it won’t happen again,” says Nelda Cooper, another flood victim. Inside her house the floodwaters reached 4 1/2 feet.

“It’s devastating,” she says, adding that there are a lot of elderly people in the neighborhood. “When their insurance tripled, they had no other option but to drop it,” she says.

Now, many people are left wondering how to move forward.

Donate today to help victims like Mrs. Cooper get back in their homes.
