Druid Tree Workings: Exercises for Deepening Tree Relationships

Dana's avatarThe Druid's Garden

A wonderful tree to get to know! A wonderful tree to get to know!

Trees are wonderful and amazing beings, true teachers, friends, and wonderful introductory guides to nature’s mysteries.  Sometimes though, we don’t realize what a powerful impact different trees have had on our lives.  As one step towards cultivating a deep relationship with trees, this week I offer a series of exercises that can help you explore your memories of trees and see what existing connections you may already have.

These exercises and meditations can help you develop relationships with trees or deepen relationships that you’ve already started. You can do them either as meditations or as freewriting activities.  Discursive meditation or journey work would be appropriate if you wanted to use these as meditation tools. In a discursive meditation, you might meditate on the question or theme given (in each exercise) and work through your thoughts. In a journey meditation, you would use the…

YOUR ROOT IS EVOLVING! CRYSTALS TO HELP YOU ADAPT + THRIVE

Your Root is Evolving: Crystals to Help You Adapt + Thrive / www.krista-mitchell.com

There was something I learned years ago when I was training as a healer: If the energy centre at your root (at the base of your spine) is out of balance, then everything else will end up out of balance, too.

This is because our root is the foundation of our health and well being.

meditating dude no bg.png

Our physical health, yes, but also

  • Our livelihoods, our families, our community relations.
  • Ability to remain grounded, centered, empowered.
  • To be resilient, to endure.
  • To feel safe, secure, provided-for, and strong.

When our root is balanced, we feel confident, capable of handling challenges/stress/obstacles, and optimistic.

Our needs are met, and we feel solid in our place in the world.

But when it’s not balanced:

  • We can feel blocked, afraid, or struggling.
  • We have weak energy, are fatigued and un-grounded, and have compromised immune systems.
  • We can isolate and self-neglect, or overcompensate and look for safety, security, or provision in others.
  • Hoarding, recklessness, aggression, conflict, and defensive behaviour can take hold (and we’ve been seeing A LOT of that in recent history).

If the root energy centre continues to function out of balance, that imbalance vibrates up through our energy system and starts to throw off our other energy centres, too.

5 Ways to Clear Cords During this Eclipse Season

5 ways to clear karmic ties During this Lunar Eclipse

Happy Lunar Eclipse & Honey Moon!

Things are getting a bit intense here as Saturn went retrograde on the 23rd, we enter the Eclipse Season with a super moon and experience Mercury’s retrograde on the 30th.

Saturn, the planet of karma and lessons is retrograde for the next 5 months in the sign of Aquarius. This is a time of karmic rebalancing. What you do during this time can project you forward in many of your goals, but you will need to have the self discipline to follow through. The lessons that come during this time are difficult, but the payoff will be worth it!

Mercury’s retrograde begins on the 30th of May. Mercury retrogrades usually have to do with miscommunications, technological issues, and delays. This one is square Neptune which adds another sense of illusion into the mix. This might make it hard to trust what others say. This could also be a time where propaganda, conspiracy theories or frauds are brought to the surface.

Energies of May, New Moon, Full Moon Eclipse, the Influence of Taurus, Negotiating Ongoing Change

Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs's avatarGood Witches Homestead

The month of May in the northern hemisphere is traditionally associated with the power of the feminine goddess and the beginning of summer, both of which are celebrated at the Celtic festival of Beltane on May 1st each year.

This year May has got off to a somewhat cold and windy start with weather rather more reminiscent of early March than anything approaching summer. Despite this our garden and the countryside around us is resplendent with blossom and new vibrant green growth. Some warm sunshine would now be most welcome so that we can properly start in on the important summer job of mother tincture making.

The Energies of May

May promises to be a powerful and eventful month with a volatile energy flow that will highlight the themes of freedom and transformation.

Events are likely to be fast moving and possibly unexpected in nature so it will be important…

We welcome May with the Gaelic celebration of Beltane, which marks the beginning of Mother Earth entering a new cycle of growth, fertility, and abundance. Although I do not practice or observe any Pagan or Wiccan/New Age holidays or rites, I do honor this blessed day by creating an abundant ritual altar of candles and flowers.    May 3rd, 2021: Last Quarter Moon in Aquarius will bring a strong desire for solitude. Sensitives and those developing their third eye will feel overloaded with psychic messages. Anxiety often heightens during this time. Excellent time to physically and spiritually cleanse the home. The combination of Agrimony Powder and Wormwood Powder illuminates and cleanses all surroundings. This nearly smokeless method of cleansing will be very satisfying under the influences of this Last Quarter Moon. More information and instructions can be found on the Smokeless “Smudge” Kit page.   If

HOW TO TRUST + FOLLOW SPIRIT

How to Trust + Follow Spirit with Crystal Allies / www.krista-mitchell.com

Times of great challenge are also times of great reclaiming:

Reclaiming our feelings of resilience, personal power, faith, magic, and healing wisdom.

Reclaiming old ways while adopting new.

Reclaiming our sense of purpose, and conviction in what truly matters.

It is often in times of challenge or recovery that we turn more deeply to Spirit – for guidance, understanding, support.

One could argue that it’s a sign of spiritual evolution when one turns more deeply to Spirit in times of ease, thriving, without need for overcoming great challenge.

One could also argue that we are always facing some great challenge, in one form or another, as we turn each bend in the labyrinth of our lives.

To me, Spirit encompasses many things: God/dess, the consciousness of the stones, ethereal spirits, nature spirits, spirit guides, spirits of the departed, our own spirits or souls.

It’s through being able to deeply listen to my own spirit, my own voice + truth, and that of my Guidance that has gently yet powerfully steered me through some of the hardest challenges in my life.

But I know from my own experience, and that which I witness in others, that being able to truly listen to + follow our own voice and Spirit can be a challenge in and of itself.

How do you listen deeply? How do you hear Spirit? How do you trust what you’re hearing enough to follow?

My friends: I know it takes an enormous amount of courage to surrender and follow Spirit, to say yes to the truth of your soul.

Many of us are neither conditioned nor encouraged to listen to anything other than outside authority.

But when we do take the time to listen to ourselves, to follow the guidance of Spirit, we tend to be richly rewarded.

Druid Tree Workings: Cutivating Recpiprocity

Dana's avatarThe Druid's Garden

White spruce resin, locally harvested from my land Norway spruce resin, harvested  with honor and reciprocity from the land

When I was still quite young, my grandfather used to take me and my cousins into the deep forest behind our house and teach us many things about nature.  One of the fun things he taught us, for example, was that you could use spruce gum or white pine resin not only as a chewing gum (something that gave us endless enjoyment) but also to cover over a cut to help heal it or draw out a splinter or stinger. I remember once day we were walking in the woods and I fell on the ground and scraped my knee quite badly on a rock.  He went to a nearby spruce tree and got some of the sticky resin, then carefully spread it on my knee and covered it with a tulip poplar leaf.  The resin stuck the leaf…

Sacred Trees in the Americas – Spruce (Picea glauca, Picea pungens, Picea spp.)

Dana's avatarThe Druid's Garden

The beautiful blue spruce looking across the landscape The beautiful blue spruce looking across the landscape on a mountain in Western PA

When I lived in a walkable small town, what drew me every day was a line of beautiful blue spruce trees. Right around the corner from my house, they were on my daily walking commute to work.  We used to say hello and do an energy exchange each day. One day that following summer, I watched as the city landscaping people came through and ruthlessly cut them back away from the power lines (they were not growing even close to the lines) and I held space for the trees. Over the next few months, those trees began to heal, and they produced copious amounts of amazing tree resin as a first line of defense.  In the years that followed, eventually, the resin grew hard and the trees invited me to harvest small amounts that could be…
