Gem Jewelry…

Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs's avatarGood Witches Homestead

Gemstones are a great way to help me relax, gain focus, and ground myself. No better surprise than to find the gemstone you slipped into your pocket as a little good luck charm when your eyes were barely open at six AM, giving you that afternoon boost you need!

Gemstones are special because they each hold specific unique powers that can aid you with your own, likewise specific needs. Sometimes you might be drawn to the beauty of their color, or weight for no particular reason; that’s awesome too! The connection may come later as you spend time familiarizing yourself with your new gems!

When I wear gem jewelry I feel a sense of comfort and protection, a magnetic beauty and confidence. Most of all I love the feeling of first slipping my bracelets onto my wrists and letting the cool tranquility of their weight ground and calm me.

Winter Blues ~ Healing Crystals

By Tara Mideaker

I never thought that it would happen to me.  I watched it happen to others and empathized with the urge to just give in to the cold, dark days that make you want to forego your normal routine.  While it is natural to rest during the winter months, it can be a challenge for most of us to give in and let go of our busy schedules.  It is very healthy and beneficial to change your routine and “play hooky” from your life every once and a while.  But you want that rebellion to come from a place of fun and whimsy and not because your current circumstances are depleting your energy.  Here are some ideas to help when you feel overwhelmed and tired of it all.

Charge your water with Green Tourmaline.  Green Tourmaline has so much fiery, aggressive, masculine energy that it cannot help but revive your spirit.  I keep a bottle of water in my refrigerator with a Green Tourmaline bracelet on it.  I drink it in the morning and it fuels my energy for the rest of the day.

Change your light bulbs.  I know this sounds goofy but I recently ran out of light bulbs and could only find those that simulate Daylight.  It is amazing how they have completely changed the energy in my home. Every room feels brighter and lighter and my crystals love them.  Just try one and see if it doesn’t make a difference.

Carry and/or wear Tiger Eye.  Powerful Tiger Eye gives you courage and strengthens your willpower.  Whether you use Brown, Red, or Blue, it can help you trust yourself and that inner voice that will let you know when to keep going and when to stop.  Carry all three with you for a day and see how it feels.

Try something new.  There is nothing more exciting than doing something different.  Maybe you always wanted to try a dance class or learn how to make jewelry.  Now is a great time to go for it and many places offer free trials.  You will feel happier doing something that you love.

Surround yourself with Clear Quartz.  Clear Quartz chases away any negative energy, increases the positive vibrations and draws in more light.  It will brighten everything, including your mood and outlook.

*If you believe that you may be depressed, please seek medical counsel. Crystals are for healing and should be used as a compliment to other therapies and not as a replacement for regular medical care. Please consult your healthcare specialist for your particular needs.

Full Moon In Cancer ~ January 1st

By Brana Mijatovic, Ph.D., Crystal Cosmopolitan

Full Moon coinciding with the beginning of a New Year is quite a rare thing! I would not go as far as to say that it will determine the unfolding of the whole year, but it will certainly give us a big theme to develop within 2018!
Full Moon in Cancer is asking us to take better care of ourselves and understand how important self-nourishment is. The last year has had quite a few dramatic astrological events, and this year should be somewhat calmer, at least in terms of its aspects.
However, we have experienced what it feels like being under almost continual pressure throughout the year, and many people have experienced recurring health challenges.
So I will keep it short and sweet — take care of yourselves and your loved ones much more than ever before. Pay attention to your emotions, your imagination and your intuition and let go of any memories that no longer serve your highest good. Use the Element of Water to help you release those memories. Strengthen the energy of your heart. The stone to work with for this is Rhodochrosite and any other stone that you intuitively choose during the Full Moon on Monday and Tuesday.
Have a wonderful and a prosperous 2018!!
Till next time — stay healthy and happy!

A Little Yuletide Crystal Magic

By Krista Mitchell

Yuletide Blessings & Season’s Greetings!

We’ve made it through the darkest time, and longest night, of the year.
Slowly but surely the sun will begin to wax, and while they still feel far away, the warm days will come again.

We’re moving into a potent phase of intention setting and manifestation magic from the 25th to the 6th (the original 12 days of Yuletide or Christmas), when our thoughts and hopes will look to a fresh start at the new year.

According to the ancient Celtic and Druidic calendars, the month of Birch begins today. The birch tree symbolizes new beginnings, rebirth, and resurrection. In the runic language of the old Norse, it symbolizes fertility, healing, prosperity, and the feminine mysteries.

A Little Yuletide Crystal Magic

To consciously welcome in the magic, healing, and blessings this time brings:

  1. Place a candle in your window at twilight, the magical “between and betwixt time” revered by the Druids. (An LED candle is fine, safety first!)
  2. Using your saliva (or a sacred oil) and your index finger, draw the runic Berkana symbol (meaning “birch”, pictured above) on your window.
  3. Hold a piece of quartz and whisper your desires for healing, renewal, fertility or prosperity into the quartz.
  4. Leave the quartz beside your candle throughout the night, symbolizing the light of your dreams blazing through the darkness.
  5. Keep the quartz with you, place it on your altar, or bury it in your garden after the Spring thaw.

May magic, healing, love and hope bless you and yours this holiday season!

Warmest wishes,

🌟Krista🌟

The Sagittarius New Moon Is Asking . . .

By Brana Mijatovic, Ph.D.www.crystalcosmopolitan.com

. . . “What’s Your Story?”
You probably know by now that the New Moon time is a time for planting new seeds for the future. However, each time a New Moon is in a specific sign, it gives us something else to consider. Also, sometimes a New Moon has company and this company creates a certain kind of mood.
So this New Moon and his 4 companions in the sign of Sagittarius are asking us to look at the year behind us and make a story out of what we created and what happened to us. Before we can use its energy to move forward, we need to look back and make sure that we understand the lessons and the gifts we have received this year.
If you are tempted to skip this step — please do not! With the current energy it is ***the most important thing*** you can do for yourself! Do that on the 17th or 18th of December. Use Turquoise (pictured above) to help you with this.
That way, when on the 19th the energy shifts in a big way, with Saturn’s move into Capricorn, followed closely by the Sun (20th), and then the Solstice (21st) — you’ll have an inspiration and motivation to make a solid plan for the future. Use Black Onyx and Garnet (pictured below) to help with this.
Because of this energy shift, this plan will have the potential to bring much greater stability to whatever seeds you plant than was possible in the last three years.
And finally, you will want to take action only when Mercury is well out of the retrograde period, so after Christmas would be a good time to start putting your plan into action.

A Guide To Crystal Gifting

By Tara Mideaker

crystal-healing-therapy-training-skills

If you are anything like me, you probably have friends, family and associates who just don’t “get” crystals.  Maybe they appreciate their decorative appeal and think of them as cool knick-knacks.  It is even more likely that they wear them as jewelry.  They can see their obvious qualities but cannot understand how a crystal can provide healing and guidance.  One of my favorite things about crystals is that you don’t have to understand how they work…you don’t even have to believe that they will work…all that you need to do is be around them and everyone benefits.  That is why I often give crystals as gifts – even to the skeptics (and I know plenty!) and I have found that the gifts are often well received and have surprising results.  I haven’t brought any of those skeptics over to my side…but I have found that they do use their crystals when they need them – even if they don’t realize it.  So if you are planning on ‘gifting” a crystal this holiday season, here are some tips to help you choose the ones that will work the best.

What kind of healing do you want to gift?

If you are considering getting someone a crystal it is probably because you have an idea of how it could benefit them.  Maybe your boss is always on the go and you want to give them a crystal that would complement their fiery personality like a Black Obsidian or Red Jasper.   If they seem overwhelmed you might consider a Chrysocolla or Selenite to relieve their stress and open their mind to other possibilities.  Does someone close to you have a physical ailment that would benefit from crystal healing?   You can review the Issues and Ailments Guide to find the crystal that will help alleviate their symptoms.  Someone with muscular issues would benefit from a Hematite or Emerald.  It is cold and flu season, so an Aquamarine or Fluorite could help keep them healthy.

Which crystal reminds you of the recipient?

I am a firm believer that crystals often choose us and tend to come into our lives when we need them the most.  Likewise, when you are thinking about someone a crystal might pop into your mind or jump out at you online or in a store.  Let’s say that you have a friend who is having some romantic issues and you want to get her a crystal.  Labradorite may not be associated with that particular issue or for working on the Heart Chakra, but still it feels like the one that will help her the most.  Do not get caught up in pre-conceived ideas about the “right” crystal.  Always follow your instinct and select the crystal that you feel belongs with that person.

What if you just cannot decide on the “right” crystal?

When in doubt just keep it simple.  You can never go wrong with universal crystals like Clear QuartzAmethyst, and Rose Quartz.  If those don’t feel right consider the recipient’s favorite color or what they wear the most.  If someone loves the color blue then go with Lapis Lazuli.  If they always wear orange try Carnelian.  They will notice that you see what makes them happy and that makes the gift personal and memorable.

How will they use the crystal?

You want to think about how your recipient will use your gift since not everyone walks around with bags of crystals on them.  I know…it is hard for us to believe but it is true!  Jewelry is an obvious solution as long as the recipient actually enjoys wearing jewelry.  Bracelets, pendants and necklaces have a universal appeal and you don’t have to worry about sizing, etc. If your recipient isn’t a jewelry person, but you think they’d benefit from carrying the crystal with them, then perhaps try a keychain.  That’s something that everyone will use.  If you are giving small tumbled or natural crystals you can present them in a cloth bag with a personalized card that suggests they carry this in their bag, backpack or briefcase.  If you will be gifting a larger crystal to be placed in a room then choose a shape that will resonate with your recipient.  Spheres, pyramids and points are always interesting and bring wonderful energy to the space.

The most important tip of all is to always follow your heart and enjoy giving as much as you enjoy receiving!

Crystals for Holiday Stress

By Crystal Cosmopolitan

crystal-healing-feat

Holidays are supposed to be joyful and celebratory events, and yet many times the preparation – whether hosting a party or travelling to someone else’s home – leaves us exhausted and wishing we could just forget about all of it, sleep through it and wake up when it is all over. If you’ve ever had a thought like this – then this article is for you!

Crystals help us on many levels through physical laws of resonance, where their vibratory frequency affects the frequencies of our bodies in specific ways. In this article I will suggest a few that assist specifically with issues related to stress around the holidays. So here are the tips and tricks you can use to sail through the holiday season with a smile on your face:

Take your Citrine when you go shopping to find what you need at a price you can easily afford. Citrine works to synchronistically bring you to the right place at the right time so you can be done quickly and effortlessly.

Lithium Quartz is wonderful when you need to take a break from everything to distress and relax, even if it is just for a few minutes behind closed doors.

Hold or wear Fluorite for focus and mental clarity when you make your lists and are getting organized. Fluorite is excellent when you find yourself procrastinating and putting off your necessary tasks. Wearing it during shopping expeditions and holiday travel may also help you stay healthy in a crowded environment, since it strengthens the immune system.

Carnelian is a perfect crystal to hold when you feel unmotivated. It renews excitement, spurs creativity, and supports analytical thinking, so that you are not bogged down by details when planning a party, but rather inspired by your creative vision and anticipation of the joyful event.

Peach Agate may assist when you need to go to a party you are not looking forward to, for whatever reason. It would help you enjoy yourself no matter what the circumstances by attracting positive energy to you.

However, do carry Black Tourmaline with you, since the stress level of many people can be high during this time, and you want to make sure you are grounded and protected so that possible negative energy of others has no chance of affecting you.

Meditate with Lepidolite before going to bed for restful sleep. Write down all of what still needs to be done – your thoughts and your ideas for the rest of the holiday week – on a piece of paper and let your mind relax.

Hold Seraphinite when you feel you need a little extra help from the Divine to accomplish all that you want. A heartfelt gratitude for all that you do have and have been able to do is an important step on the road towards accomplishing more.

If you are looking for gifts – a set of scented candles, a pendantbracelet, or a necklace perhaps – you know where to check, right? If you are so overwhelmed at this point that you can’t think straight, here is a subtle hint: www.healingcrystals.com.

Finally, you want your home to sparkle, and be filled with a beautiful energy that reminds you of the meaning of the holidays. Place Amethyst and Citrine Druzes  throughout your home to bring in the energy of peace, spirituality, celebration, and abundance.

Hope these ideas serve to make your holiday season sparkly and happy!

Crystals at the Table

By Sonia Acone

Gemstone jicara

For some years now, I’ve kept a dish of crystals on our kitchen table.  The dish may change with the seasons or my moods, and the crystals often change to reflect what the family needs at certain times, but the message is always the same: the crystals stay on the table. My oldest son, Jeremy, started what is now a long-running joke when someone knocked over a salt shaker which, in turn, crashed into my dish of crystals. Jeremy threw out his hands and yelled, “Nobody move! Mom’s crystals have been disturbed!  You will feel their wrath!” Narrowing his eyes, and in a sinister whisper, he continued, “Now we’ll await the hellfire and brimstone…”  To which I naturally gave him the “Mom eye-roll” and proceeded to put things to rights at the table.

The family doesn’t always know the reasons by which some crystals appear in the dish while others are taken away, but they all understand that they are there for a specific purpose and they respect the fact that the crystals do help us, especially when we are all at the dinner table together.  Many an argument has ensued between my husband and oldest son (both are Leo’s) over dinner-table conversations, or there could be way too much goofing off between our two boys, especially when my husband is trying to have a more serious discussion which, in turn, almost always evolves into some sort of life lesson.  So, in the interest of peace and tranquility at the table, I set out a dish of crystals that I had hoped would be beneficial to everyone.

There is always a Clear Quartz crystal, but then I have added DumortieriteMoonstoneLapis Lazuli and Blue Lace Agate for peace; Lepidoliteand Sunstone for a bit of fun; MalachiteBloodstoneChrysocolla, etc. for healing; Hawk’s Eye (Blue Tiger Eye) and Pietersite for a bit of creativity and intuition; Shattuckite for letting go of past issues; and a Rutilated Quartz for those times when I look up to the ceiling and whisper, “Heaven help me with these guys!”

One of the amazing aspects of this dish is often found when the boys’ friends come over and one or more of them almost always notices if new crystals have been added to the dish. I do one of my little happy dances in my head when I see their interest in the crystals. A friend of Jeremy’s was here recently and couldn’t take her eyes (or her hands) off a tumbled Tiger Eye. She was enthralled with it, which gave me a hint as to what she would be getting as a Christmas gift.

To have young people appreciate and understand that crystals can be used in their daily lives is something that has brought me immense joy over the years, and I will continue to introduce them to more of the same. Speaking of Christmas, when I asked what Jeremy wanted for Christmas, he replied, “Can I have a crystal necklace?”  Talk about a happy dance – and yes, I did grab a tissue for the few tears of joy that fell.

Update: Jeremy now has his own place. And yes, every year, he asks for some crystal item for Christmas. His apartment is becoming a crystal haven, just like our home. He still freaks out if someone knocks over the crystal dish, whether here at home or at his own.
