Walking Meditation Garden with Hugelkultur Beds

By Druid’s Garden

Dana's avatarThe Druid's Garden

As a practitioner of permaculture and as a druid, I am always looking for ways to work with the land to create sacred and ecologically healthy spaces.  That is, to create self-sustaining ecosystems that produce a varitey of yields: create habitat, offer nectar and pollen, systems that retain water and nutrients, offer medicine and food, create beauty and magic.  But conventional gardens, even sheet mulched gardens, can falter in water scarce conditions.  So building gardens long-term for resiliency and with a variety of climate challenges in mind is key.  At the same time, I am also looking to create sacred gardens, that is, not just places to grow food (which is simple enough) but to develop sacred relationships and deepen my connection with the living earth. Given all of this, I developed a design for a butterfly-shaped garden that would use hugelkultur raised beds and allow for a space…

A Summer Solstice Sunrise Observance Ritual

By The Druid’s Garden

Summer Solstice Sunrise from the Water Summer Solstice Sunrise Progression from the Water at Yellow Creek State Park on the Summer Solstice 2017

My alarm goes off at 4:00am.  I’m conveniently camping right along the lake shore, after having spent the evening watching the sunset on the eve of the summer solstice with members of our grove. My kayak is ready to launch, and I roll out of my sleeping bag and slip it quietly into the still, dark water. The starry heavens are brilliant in their glory, the moon a crescent low in the sky. But just as I begin to paddle, the first light on the horizon is present. The mists rise up from the lake water–the lake is warm like bath water even though the air itself is much cooler on this summer solstice morning. I paddle through the mist, finding a good spot from which to watch the sun rise. The lake…

Astrorisa Moon Forecaster: Power Date June 17, 2018 (from the Sag. Forecast)

By AstrorisaMoon

In The Loft

Hello Moon Followers and Subscribers!
Happy Father’s Day!

A Power Date: June 17, 2018
From the Sagittarius Full Moon Forecast May 29, 2018
On this power date of June 17th both  the moon and ASC will be in the sign of Leo, but the moon will reside in house 12.
The Moon is opposite Mars on this date.

This is the aspect that ignites the Ego, there’s frustrations, and power struggles, here everyone in the room is the King or Queen and whatever is manifesting amongst the group, each person behaves as though, their reality is the most important reality at that moment. Therefore, this is a day one should be very humble. All important dates that are
mentioned during these moon forecasts are dates that are usually destiny changer dates. Be humble, as some issues from the past can be thrown up in our faces, or something unfinished from the past comes back and is likely upsetting for some. This is a time to connect with an earth centered person who is mature and can bring to the table a broader perspective, and offer some needed clarity about how to handle the situation. Avoid making a rash permanent decision, some more information is likely to come and a rash permanent decision without that information can be a huge setback.

For others, this date can bring a favorable outcome, an ongoing challenge can receive a supportive and amicable judgement or decision. Check the oracle to verify if this is the best date for you, if you must receive a judgment of some kind. June 17th  brings forward a helpful ear and unexpected favor for many.

Communication for Prosperity ~ New Energy with the New Moon in Gemini

By Brana Mijatovic, Ph.D.

Dear all,
This New Moon in Gemini (exact on Wednesday afternoon) is going to be all about communication, ideas and projects.
You will most likely feel a renewed enthusiasm for something you’ve been thinking about for a while.
You may also receive new information or new insights that will help you come up with new projects.
You may notice that it is easier to make plans, organize meetings, and receive cooperation from others.
It may feel like the floodgate of possibilities has finally opened up and you’ll be tempted to check them all out. Being flexible and adaptable as planschange and new ideas come up is the key.
Aquamarine (above) and Blue Tourmaline (the top photo and below) are the top two stones I recommend for this energy.
Nurturing and supportive words will come easy now and everyone will benefit from spending time by the water, as Mercury, an astrological ruler of this New Moon, will be in a Water sign.
If you want to amplify your focus and intuition and maximize the effect of this energy with my New Moon in Gemini meditation, which you’ll listen to every night for two weeks (until the Full Moon), let me know by replying to this email.
Till next time,
stay healthy and happy!
Brana Mijatovic, Ph.D.

Much of the vision of Ancestral Apothecary is inspired and informed by my experience in the Indigenous Mind Program.  As the founder of Ancestral Apothecary, I, Atava Garcia Swiecicki, received a graduate degree from  from Naropa University in the Indigenous Mind Program in 2003.  The Indigenous Mind Program focuses on reconnecting to one’s indigenous ancestors, no matter what their cultural or ethnic background.  The program was founded by Dr. Apela Colorado, who also is the founder of the Worldwide Indigenous Science Network.

Heidi Corning, of White Tigress Ancestry, was also a student in the Indigenous Mind Program and created a short film to document the process of the Indigenous Mind students and they reconnected to their ancestral ways of knowing.

Walking the Path of the Ovate: Building Localized Ecological Knowledge

by The Druid’s Garden

Rocky Maine Shore at Sunrise Rocky Maine Shore at Sunrise

Everything changes in this wild place. The ebb and flow of the tides drives the ecology on this rocky shore. The landscape abruptly changes its appearance based on proximity to the sea and elevation. Firs and spruces dominate along with a groundcover of laurel and blueberry. Even old friends, like birch, maple, and beech, take on new skin. The mountain peaks offer a desert-like climate where air and fire dominate. I am in this wild place, letting it seep into my bones, into my breath, into my spirit. Desipte the books on ecology I’ve purchased, I really have no idea what I’m seeing, no real knowledge of the deeper mystery of this land and shore. Books cannot teach that kind of wisdom, only time and experience can. My eyes physically see, but I am seeing without any real understanding of what it is that is…

An American Ley Line Network: A Ritual of Creation

by The Druid’s Garden

Dana's avatarThe Druid's Garden

This past weekend, we had a delightful time at the 2nd OBOD Mid Atlantic Gathering of US(or MAGUS). It was a wonderful weekend full of positive energy, community, and celebration of the land. I was involved heavily in the ritual planning and work this year and was the gathering’s keynote speaker, and we once again did a Galdr ritual (a chanting ritual) using Ogham (sacred trees). This year’s theme was “Sacred Time, Sacred Space” and as part of this work, we decided to re-enchant the land by establishing a new ley line network. We are co-creating a new ley line network across the land.

Motherstone at Four Quarters Interfaith Sanctuary Motherstone at Four Quarters Interfaith Sanctuary

The overall goal of this ritual was to re-enchanting our landscape, connecting sacred spaces and creating sacred spaces across the landscape, and connecting our broader druid community. The work involves empowering, connecting, and eventually, dispersing a set of stones…
